Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bryant Green began life's journey on May 3, 1946, to the parentage of the late Richard Bryant, Sr., and the late Annie Mae Simmons Bryant. All who knew and loved Dorothy, called her "Dot."
Dot, a native of Prichard, Alabama, moved to Rochester, New York in 1961. While passionately pursuing a better life for herself and her daughter, Dot held the job positions of housekeeping and transportation. She later relocated to Hempstead, New York, and was united in holy matrimony to Joseph Green. Also, while residing in Hempstead, Dot worked at a nursing home, during which time she furthered her education and became a CNA.
Dot resided in New York until 1977; returning to Prichard, Alabama, she enrolled in Bishop State Community College Culinary Arts Program. There, she received a Baking & Pastry Certificate. Dot's passion for baking cakes spread throughout the community. She was primarily known for her "Red Velvet and German Chocolate Cakes." Dot was also an excellent cook, instrumental in bringing the family together for holidays and Sunday dinners. Upon retiring, Dot worked as a dispatcher for Mike's Cab.
Dot was a member of Lily Baptist church in Mobile, Alabama, where she was spiritually employed with the church's Food Ministry until her health started to decline. Dorothy "Dot" Green departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Her probationary assignment on this earth ended, and her permanent reign with the LORD began. We will truly miss Dot and her kind spirit.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Green; her parents Richard and Annie Mae Bryant; her sisters, Lula Mae Willis and Patricia Ann Sellers; her brothers, George Bryant and James Reed; her nephew, Otis Bryant; and her son-in-law, Michael Scott.
Loving memories of Dot will forever be cherished by her lovely daughter, Veronica (Sena) Gwin of Mobile, Alabama; Her very devoted granddaughter, Vesha Bryant of Prichard, Alabama; Her devoted great-granddaughters, Ve'Lashae Bryant and Shagerrica Bryant; Her beautiful great-great-grandchildren, Karlie Bryant and Tymir Carlton all of Mobile, Alabama; Her brothers, Clifford Lee (Gwendolyn) Bryant, Sr. of Eight Mile, Alabama and Charlie Lee Reed Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; Her nieces, Juandine (Robert) Foster, Bridgette (Jerome) Toomer both of Mobile, Alabama, Fanessa Sellers of McDonough, Georgia, Kimberly (Gregory) Tucker of Eight Mile, Alabama, Finice (Stacy) Sellers of Union City, Georgia; Her nephew, Clifford Lee (Sarah) Bryant Jr. of Eight Mile, Alabama; her loving great nieces, great nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
