Ernestine Robinson Obituary

Acts 20:35 (NLT) - And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Ms. Ernestine Aaron Robinson, daughter of the late Gracie and Roy Robinson, Sr. was born on December 5, 1936 in Waynesboro, MS. She resided in Waynesboro until the age of 14 when she journeyed to a new life and endeavors in Mobile, Alabama. Here in Mobile, Ernestine “Ernie” established many thriving partnerships. Everywhere she went, Ernie showed how much of a dedicated and hard worker she was – which opened many doors of opportunities for her. She connected with many people who would become like family to her. She worked for the Engels, Myers, and Martino families for decades. Though she worked for these families, their bond over the many decades grew in love and commitment. They were no longer employersbut dear friends and family members to her.

Through her years of serving others through housekeeping and taking care of children, Ernestine became connected to First Assembly of God. She not only professed her faith in Jesus there, she also ran the nursery. After her time at First Assembly, she and her family moved to Harvest Church. Ernie spent many years loving on and caring for babies in the nursery of Harvest. She also used her amazing talents of cleaning to beautify the church each week.

When the opportunity arose for Ernestine to help out a Girl Scout troop, she helped members of Harvest become top sellers of Girl Scout cookies. She became famous on the bus for being a cookie lady – helping to sell cookies for other troops in the area. The natural progression for Ernestine was to begin selling Avon. She enjoyed using her people skills to build a thriving Avon business which won her many awards.

Ernestine is now reunited with her parents (Gracie and RoyRobinson, Sr.), siblings (Roy Robinson, Jr; Sidney Robinson; Johnnie B. Robinson; Underay Robinson; Willie D. Robinson; Bennie Lee Robinson; Hattie Pearl Blakely; Lillie V. Robinson; Girtha Mae Watson; and Gracie Lee Hardy), and daughter (Patricia Ann Robinson Brown).

Ernestine leaves to celebrate her incredible life her loving sisters Bertha McCants of Mobile, AL; Bettie Jean Lee of Chicago, IL; Bobbie Matthews and Shella Ruth Robinson of Sandusky, OH; her devoted sons John Earl (Linda) Robinson of Waynesboro, MS; Allen Earl (Linda) Robinson of Cecil, GA; Raymal(Margaret) West of Mobile, AL; and Nathan (Wanda) Whigham of Moss Point, MS.
