Kenneth Maynard Gibbs, a resident of Douglasville, Georgia was born January 1, 1968, in Mobile, Alabama. He was the fourth child of Dr. Nathaniel Gibbs, Sr., and the late Bessie Marsh Gibbs. He was affectionately known as “Ken.” He was hospitalized at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia on July 26, 2021. Ken departed this life on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 6:21pm of complications from the COVID-19 virus.
He graduated from Murphy High School in 1986, where he played freshmen and junior varsity football. After high school graduation, he attended RETS Technical School in Birmingham, Alabama, where he majored in Electronics. He worked at Intel Corporation in Rio Rancho, New Mexico before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. Ken was called to the Ministry of the Gospel and licensed as an Evangelist at the New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church - Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Church of the Open Door, where his father, Apostle Nathaniel Gibbs, is Pastor Emeritus. Minister Ken served on the Praise and Worship Team, and taught the new member orientation class. Vocationally, Ken was an industrious worker, often working two jobs at the same time. His most recent employers were Hello Fresh and Chico’s in Atlanta.
Kenneth Gibbs confessed his belief in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age while attending the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. Ken loved God, and will be remember him most for sending out inspirational text messages to family and friends with an encouraging “Thought of the Day”. Ken was a great son, father, brother, and friend. He never met any strangers. In addition, you might say that he was a “MR. FIX IT” guy. He could do minor repairs on cars, and home improvement installations. He was a jack of all trades!
Ken leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, Nathaniel Gibbs Sr, father; three brothers: Nathaniel (Necole) Gibbs II, Gregory Gibbs, Quentin (Tabatha) Gibbs, two sisters: Sabriena Gibbs, Kimberly (Otis IV) Burnett; fiancé: Shenese Williams, and three children: Khristian, Josiah, and Kylah Gibbs. He also leaves the mothers of his children: Dedra Gibbs, and Dana Robinson, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Throughout his life, Ken left an unforgettable impression on everyone he touched and will be truly missed. We thank the Lord Jesus Christ for the life, and legacy of our beloved son, brother, and father. May Ken rest in peace in the loving arms of The Lord Jesus Christ and we look forward to that great family reunion in glory!
