Kervoicer Douglas Tate was born in Detroit, MI on April 2, 1955, to the late Rev. William S. Tate and Berdie Mae Douglas-Tate.
Kervoicer graduated from Kettering High School in Detroit, MI in 1973 and was a proud attendee of the University of Michigan (U of M) in Ann Arbor, MI. He began his professional career working as a draftsman and automotive engineer with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI. He was later offered a prominent position in Nashville, TN where he worked until he retired. After retirement he spent his remaining years between Nashville and Spanish Fort, AL.
He was known for his quick wit and personality. He lived life on his own terms. He had a strong sense of individuality, and he was unapologetically himself. He was known to make you laugh and speak his mind no matter what the circumstance. He will be missed by everyone that loved him. His memory will be honored by all who knew him.
Kervoicer departed this life in his home in Spanish Fort, AL. His siblings William S. Tate Jr and Wanda Tate preceded him in death. He is survived by his only child Melvina West (Anthony), his ex-wife and friend Carmelia Tate, his siblings Marie Green, Dunbar Hubbard, Constance Fox, Alva Tate, Jacquelyn Willis (Roger), Norman Tate (Deborah), Paul Tate (Elizabeth) and Berdie Proctor, and a host of other loved ones.
A memorial service in honor of Kervoicer will be announced at a later date.
