Minister Lula Mae (Sis) Scott Jones departed this life on Monday, October 28, 2024. Lula was born in Walker Springs AL, and later moved to Mobile, Al. Minister Jones accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Walker Springs Al, after moving to Mobile, Al, she united with The Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church where she was a very active member. Minister Jones held many positions at Greater Union including the Baptist Training Union Director, and Sunday School Assistant Adult Superintendent, she was a member of the Missionary Dept. and a former member of the Adult Choir, she was an instructor in the Sunlight District Auditorium, and she taught Christian Education for many years. Minister Jones was employed with the Mobile Public Library where she worked as a Children’s Librarian, and she rode on the Book Mobile throughout Mobile and surrounding counties. She was an excellent storyteller working for many schools and daycares during story time. She taught Christian education at John Will Elementary School. After retiring from the Public Library, she accepted her calling into the Ministry, she completed her training from Selma University with a bachelor’s in bible and Pastoral Ministry.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Deacon Eddie Jones, and son Howard C. (Twin) Jones, her parents; Jack Comer Scott and Mary Scott Richardson, Sisters; Jessie Mae Scott Lindsey, & Claudette Bendolph, Brothers; Jack (J.C.) Scott, Alonzo Scott, & Alex Scott. She leaves to cherish her precious memories three devoted daughters; Angela (Billy) Taylor, Patricia Stewart, Minister Venisa E Jones, three devoted sons; Elder Eddie (Marie) Jones Sr., Michael (Darnisha) Jones, & Henry (Mary) Jones, all of Mobile, Al. She leaves to cherish 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandkids, 1 Sister-in-Law, Mary F. Francis of Walker Springs, Al, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including the Greater Union Church family.
