Mother Rachel Robinson Watkins, A native of Washington County. She was born to the union of Ellarene and Samuel Robinson on October 15, 1935. She earned her wings and answered the Masters call on Sunday, March 22, 2026 surrounded by her love ones at her residence in Mobile, AL. She confessed to Christ at an early age. At the time of her death, she was 90 years of age. Mother Watkins in her early years was schooled and educated at the Josephine Allen Private School. She later worked alongside her mother, Ellarene Robinson, in the legendary Ella’s BBQ for years on Davis Avenue serving the community. In her later years she served as a caregiver caring for others. She was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for many years. She later united with the Wilson Avenue Church of God under the leadership of Mother Mary Sims. Then, the church moved to the current location on Moffett Road, “New Beginnings Church of God”, and she came under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert Dickerson until his passing and then under the leadership of Pastor Patricia Yates, until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ellarene and Samuel Robinson, Granddaughter; Shalatheia Dean (Shay) and Grandsons; Robert C. Robinson and Walter D. Bowens.
Mother Watkins leaves to cherish her passing, a loving and devoted family: son Christopher (Robyn) Robinson; Daughter Ella Robinson (Ebb) McMillian, Daughter Winifred (Michael) Aych. Mother Watkins was honored to have ten grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. One devoted godchild, Sharon (Greg) Mitchell. Two devoted cousins, Carol Ann White and Bernice Moore. Devoted friends, Ms. Cynthia Lyon, Magnolia Edwards, Charletta Dumas, Jennifer and Love Wright, Martha Semon, The New Beginnings C.O.G. Church family and the 3 Musketeers ( Sis. Jordan, Sis. Dennis and Sis. Young.)
